Order

Why would you tell that sad story
Why would you welcome those words into the world
Does slicking that sorrow over the page
Bring you a perverted pleasure
Does the pucker of paper with dots of salt water
Wash away your boredom
Or is it simply the beauty of perfect pain
The eloquence of total tragedy
Fulfill your need for delicious order
From joy to devastation
Your sharpened pencils lined up from big to small
It’s the diversity that drives you to need
All the emotions in order
Roll them all under your hand, thin and angular
And tell me you like the asymmetry
